Can't really tell much difference with weapon performance using the fat guide rod. Biggest complaint for me is the pain in the neck takedown lever with the fat spring. Very problematic. Can't stand it when I need to break the slide off for cleaning. Having to pry up the guide rod to manipulate the guide rod means one thing to me, if my gun malfunctions and the only remedy is taking it apart in a hurry, that ain't going to happen with this fat spring.

These are the best magazines I’ve found. I tried two each of Wilson 47, Tripp Cobra, and Shooting Star before Check-Mate. The hybrid feed lips feed wide hollow points, ball, and semi-wad cutters without a problem. I now have 7 of these magazines and they all run without fail.

These are great quality mags at a great price and work in my 75b with the extended new style slide release. The higher capacity MecGars don’t always lock back, just different enough. I have been buying from TGS for years, always great selection and prices and still ship quickly and cheaply.

This is a no-brainer for the P229; an additional 2 rounds in the space as a factory mag? Done. Keep the same package size for those using the P229 due to its smaller format. And remember, Sig uses Mec-Gar for its factory mags...so win-win-win? :)

This is a fantastic addition to really open up the capacity of the a great shooting P229. It is not obnoxious looking (for those who care about aesthetics) and offers additional grip purchase for the larger-handed among us.

Works as advertised. If you have the shorter slide stop (lever 1) this will allow the use of factory 9mm mags. The American made sig mags and mecgar mags will work with lever 1 but factory Italian-made mags will not, the follower has a less pronounced step. Would recommend if you have a 9mm p226 tacops that you want to shoot 15 round factory Italian-made mags out of. Installation not bad just make sure that the locking block pin is rotated to the correct position. It will only go one way.

The parts were new and exactly what I ordered. I was mighty glad to have them due to the fact that the P-227 compact is no longer made. The parts have begun to simply dry up. Top Gun was the last place that had any in stock and the springs got here two days early. I am very satisfied with my purchase and I will shop here again, way to go Top Gun!

One of the finest pistols I have ever owned, I suspect this gun is capable of levels far beyond what I can get it to do. It makes me look like a pro and it looks the part as well. The trigger alone is worth the price. Add in the thumb rest ( I had to round off the rather sharp triangular corner ) and the red dot side mount and it really is quite a value. Once everything is put together it is difficult to keep clean without taking it all down but other than that it is a pretty great value.

The mags fit and function in the gun better than the Nighthawk mag that came with it(the mag will periodically stick when inserting). They drop free with no hang ups at all. I'm going to have to wait for a little warmer weather, currently it's -17 at 11am, to hit the range and check out the reliability. All mags loaded very easily and had no hang ups when hand cycling, but the test comes with live ammo. Great prices and fast shipping, just what you come to expect from Top Gun
