Ed Brown barrels are machined from T-416 stainless steel bar stock, just like a benchrest rifle barrel. Prior to final rifling, the barrels are stress-relieved and heat-treated to ensure no deficiencies are present. Deep-cut, broached rifling provides superior accuracy with all types of bullets. Barrel dimensions are cut to drop-in tolerances, however due to varying pistol dimensions, installation in some pistols may require very minor material removal which most people can easily do themselves. Designed for those who have difficulty depressing the grip safety, the Ed Brown extended beavertail with memory grooves aid the shooter in deactivation of the grip safety as well as better aligning your hand to the centerline of the bore with the axis of your forearm for enhanced recoil control. This grip safety features grooves cut into the raised pad of the safety for positive depression, even for those with thin or small hands. *Frame modification required* - Uses a .250 radius cut on the frame centered on the thumb safety pin hole. Typical factory firing pins are often weak and subject to failure. Springfield .38 Super and 9mm slides use the oversize diameter pin for heavy loads. At present, Ed Brown is the only manufacturer making the correct size pin for the Springfield .38 Super slides. Dimensions - .075 pin diameter.
