This review might be a little early as I haven't had this recent purchase that long. Also, I will be as subjective as I can being a SIG fan but I can't make any promises. So at first glance, Packaging is second to none. Hard shell case, firm foam insert, documentation, free oil sample pack. My only change would be to make the spare magazine location fit both supplied magazines. On has to stay in the magazine well of the gun.I'm not a fan of leaving a magazine "in" the gun during storage. Normally wouldn't make a difference due to the fact I put all of my firearms in my range bag when I go shooting. This purchase was to replace a sold S&W Model 645. While I enjoyed the 645 and this gun has all the same goodies. Dual and single action and a trigger de-cocker however, this one has a double stack magazine allowing for 10 rounds and 1 in the pipe where the 645 was a single stack with 8 rounds and one chambered. The feel of the gun is very ergonomic and reaching the magazine release is easy. De-cocker is not ambidextrous but is easy to reach and activate using my support hand (I'm a right handed shooter) allowing for me to not adjust my grip. Speaking of grips, the texturing is quite aggressive and makes for a confident grip even on ungloved hands. Sights are spot on and on my first 100 rounds of ammunition (Federal 240gr. FMJ ball) there were no failures. Double tap and rapid firing all went well. No feed or extract problems. It performed beautifully. The finish cleans up well and compliments this beautiful piece. Based on the tried and true P226 platform, this P227 variant of the P220 should go the distance. I currently have a P320 9mm which after 1000 rounds have had no feed or extraction failures. I'm hoping the same for this .45 ACP. Should anything change, I will update this review. In summary, this SIG Sauer P227 is based on a battle trusted platform, the SIG name and reputation and form, fit and function are WELL worth the money. Enjoy!

I have shot .45 for 30 years. Single stack pistols needing hundreds of dollars of work to run right, polymer pistols needing special handling to accommodate the trigger design both were bought and used thinking they were the best available. Then I found the P227. Wow what a difference, large mags a SRT trigger and da/sa. accurate right out of the box the weight of a single stack and the reliability of a polymer in one package. It has me thinking of getting rid of all the other .45s in my safe to make room for another P227.
