p229 is a solid, well-made piece which is very easy to operate and field-strip. The rotating take down lever is a plus over other systems where the take down lever is taken out of the receiver (e.g., H&K). I prefer easier to reach magazine release button than stock; you can get a button that projects an additional mm for ease of operation. This probably is not an issue if you have large hands. Decocker is a two-stage process (push lever down, then release up to complete the action), which is different than H&K system where downward movement decocks in one motion. Not better or worse, just different. Accuracy is fine, if you keep your focus on the front site as you should. The recoil spring is stiff, and in the first 50 rounds or so I had a couple of failures of slide lock on the last round fired. This did not happen to me on a very used/broken in range rental p229 that I tried before buying this.
