After a few issues since buying this gun a year ago, it is now an excellent gun and I would recommend it.

The issues I refer to was that after about 3 months and 2 trips to the range, I was displeased with the sights installed, as they had my shots, and those of others who I had shoot to double check, going low. About this same time, I was cleaning the gun after the second trip, and noticed that the firing pin was jammed in its channel. I sent it off with those two complaints to Sig, and had it returned in about a week with a new firing pin and retaining pin, a new barrel (still haven't figured out why unless it was accuracy) and also a new rear sight (changed from a #8 height to a #10) with a target showing it had been rezeroed with a nice sub-MOA group at 50 yards.

No way you can go wrong with the p229r. I have had mine in .40 cal for about 5 years and love it. Disassembly is very easy as there are only 4 main parts to take apart for cleaning. Only thing with mine is it doesnt like winchester ammo. Sights were dead on from the factory.
