Upon disassembling the slide assembly, you will find a number of components, including Glock Spring Loaded Bearings. The spring loaded bearings (SLBs) are part of the extractor depressor plunger assembly and are color coded according to caliber. For example, for a 9mm, you would choose the black SLB. The newer styles of loaded chamber indicator (LCI) bearings are designed to be used only with LCI extractors. This is because LCI Glock spring loaded bearings are shorter than the original bearings of the same caliber. However, you can use the original SLBs with either type of extractor, old or new. The bearings are accessible after the removal of the firing pin assembly. This assembly and the extractor depressor plunger are under tension in the gun, so take steps to avoid flying parts.
